ABOUT THE EAST COAST WOMEN'S HOCKEY LEAGUE

The East Coast Women's Hockey League was founded in early 2019 with a mission of providing a fun, competitive, and drama-free atmosphere for women to play the great game of hockey. It is our goal to create a series of friendly games and promote friendship and camaraderie through hockey in a safe and inclusive space. The ECWHL was built by the players for the players. While playing hockey, the majority of the ECWHL players are pursuing careers or furthering their educations. For the ECWHL Inaugural Season in 2019-2020, the league included the "Fantastic Four" founding members- Chesapeake Bay Lightning, Hagerstown Mayhem, Pittsburgh Puffins, and the Prince William Wildcats formally of the Mid-Atlantic Women's Hockey League. In 2022, the ECWHL welcomed the Wheeling Lightningbirds.
